BEDFORD, MA — A 16-year-old dirt bike rider was hospitalized after a collision with a car on Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Great Road and Elm Street, according to fire officials. Emergency responders transported the rider to Lahey Clinic; his condition remains undisclosed.
During the rescue, the dirt bike's electric battery ignited due to the impact. Firefighters extinguished the flames over approximately 20 minutes using fire extinguishers and 200 gallons of water.
The incident is currently under investigation. Authorities have not released further details regarding the vehicle involved or any other injuries sustained.
