A California woman died in a vehicle crash in Phelps County early Friday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the crash occurred at 1:23 a.m. on Interstate 44 at mile marker 190.6.
According to MSHP, the 29-year-old woman from Pacifica, CA, was driving a 2010 Honda Odyssey when she failed to stop at a stop sign on the outer road.
The vehicle then entered the westbound lane of I-44, leading to a collision with a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck.
The California driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The semi-truck driver, a 37-year-old man from El Paso, TX, sustained no injuries.
Authorities noted that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
Investigation into the crash is ongoing, with no lane closures reported as of this time.
