Box truck driver killed in fiery rollover crash on I-65 in White County.

WOLCOTT, Ind. (WISH) — A box truck driver died Tuesday night in a crash on Interstate 65 in White County, according to Indiana State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. near the interchange for U.S. 231, about 75 minutes northwest of downtown Indianapolis. The White County Coroner's Office is set to release the driver's identity after notifying next-of-kin.

Preliminary investigations indicate the driver, operating a yellow 2006 GMC 3500 Savana box truck, was traveling southbound when the vehicle left the interstate, entering the median. The driver reportedly overcorrected, causing the truck to roll onto its side, subsequently catching fire and coming to rest on the right shoulder.

A Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident attempted to assist but was unable to reach the driver due to the flames.

Emergency response included the Wolcott Fire Department, Wolcott Ambulance, Brookston Fire Department, Brookston First Responders, Monticello Fire Department, Indiana Department of Transportation, and Farney's Towing.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
