BETHANY, OKLA (KOKH) — Bethany Beauty College announced an annual scholarship in memory of Mercedes Bayne, who died in an I-35 crash on April 8, 2026.
Bayne, a mother of three, was killed in the accident alongside her youngest daughter. According to authorities, she had dreams of becoming a working esthetician to create better opportunities for her family.
The scholarship will be awarded to mothers seeking to improve their lives and those of their children, reflecting Bayne's aspirations. The college confirmed that Bayne completed her required hours for graduation just a day before the fatal crash.
