BELOIT, Wis. (WKOW) — A road rage incident escalated into an armed confrontation and multi-agency pursuit on Monday, resulting in one minor injury.
At approximately 12:33 p.m., Beloit Police responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of Division Street. According to authorities, suspect Dammen J. Henthorn was involved in a confrontation with a female driver. When a bystander intervened, Henthorn allegedly brandished a firearm, pressing it against the victim's abdomen before fleeing the scene.
Officers located Henthorn's vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Traverse, near his home in the 1000 block of McKinley Avenue. An initial traffic stop was aborted due to safety concerns related to traffic conditions.
Shortly thereafter, multiple agencies—including the Beloit Police Department, Town of Beloit Police Department, and Rock County Sheriff's Office—initiated a pursuit after locating the vehicle. The chase concluded at the intersection of Cranston Road and Prairie Avenue when Henthorn struck an uninvolved vehicle.
Henthorn fled on foot but was apprehended a short distance from the crash site. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The driver of the uninvolved vehicle sustained minor injuries, while the other occupants were unharmed.
Following the incident, police executed a search warrant and discovered a significant amount of U.S. currency, narcotics, and a firearm. Henthorn faces charges including disorderly conduct while armed, first-degree reckless endangering safety, fleeing an officer, possession with intent to deliver THC, and operating while intoxicated.
