GLADWIN COUNTY, Mich. — A three-vehicle crash in Buckeye Township on March 23 resulted in one fatality, according to authorities.
The Gladwin County Sheriff's Office reported the collision occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Howard Road and South River Road. An 86-year-old woman from Beaverton was driving a Buick LeSabre south on River Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a westbound Ford F-250 pickup truck.
The impact caused the pickup to careen into a third vehicle, a Buick Encore, which was waiting to turn. The driver of the Encore, identified as 42-year-old Aaron B. Eagleson of Beaverton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers of the LeSabre and the F-250 were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection was closed for several hours as Michigan State Police assisted with crash reconstruction.
Investigators suspect alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The ongoing investigation will be reviewed by the Gladwin County Prosecutor's Office for potential charges.
