ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WSBT) — A driver is in custody following a crash involving a police officer on Saturday night.
According to authorities, the incident occurred as an officer was traveling south on Ironwood. A vehicle attempted to turn onto Dunn Road, pulling out in front of the officer and resulting in a collision.
The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene but was later located inside a nearby residence. Authorities suspect that alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
