Lede: A 26-year-old Massachusetts motorcyclist died after being ejected from his motorcycle and falling from an overpass in Providence, Rhode Island, on Sunday evening.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Route 6 west near the Route 10 south interchange. Rhode Island State Police and the Providence Fire Department responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash.
State troopers found a black Kawasaki motorcycle on its side in the travel lane. Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcyclist struck the high-speed barrier while negotiating a turn, causing him to be ejected from the bike. He fell approximately 60 feet onto a dirt embankment below.
The driver, identified as Cedrix Teixeira of Bridgewater, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The accident is currently under investigation by State Police.
