Coroner Identifies Boise E-Bike Crash Victim as Investigation Proceeds.

BOISE BENCH, Idaho — A 15-year-old boy died following a collision between an e-bike and a on Thursday night, July 2.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Phillippi Street and Morris Hill Road, according to the Boise Police Department. The juvenile boy was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but was shortly after arrival.

The Ada County Coroner identified the boy as Sterling Wolfgang Thomas. A verified GoFundMe campaign has been launched by his uncle to assist with funeral expenses.

A juvenile girl riding on the e-bike sustained minor injuries, while the adult male rider was with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. Authorities reported that the motorcycle was heading northbound, while the e-bike was traveling westbound during the collision.

The e-bike in question is a 750-watt electric equipped with pedals. The coroner ruled the cause of death as traumatic blunt force injuries and classified the incident as an accident.

The Boise Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Crash Reconstruction Team are actively investigating the crash. The intersection remains closed to traffic while evidence is processed, and no charges have been filed at this time.
