INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A fatal crash involving a semitractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles occurred Wednesday night on I-465 northbound near East 71st Street, according to Indiana State Police.
The incident was reported at approximately 8:50 p.m. as part of an active construction zone. Authorities confirmed one fatality as a result of the collision.
A state police fatal crash team remained on the scene until 11 p.m. to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
Traffic was significantly impacted, with backups extending as far south as the East 56th Street interchange, as reported by the WISHTV.com traffic map. Following the crash, northbound traffic delays diminished within an hour but remained affected while crews worked at the site.
