Motorcycle Passenger Killed in Crash Near New Castle

A 44-year-old woman was killed in a motorcycle accident involving a near New Castle on September 28. The victim has been identified as Rasheeva Moore.

According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 10 a.m. on Route 40. Omar Mendoza, 46, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu eastbound when he failed to stop at a stop sign. He proceeded diagonally across the roadway, colliding with a Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound.

Authorities reported that the impact resulted in both motorcycle riders being from the bike. Moore was at the scene. The motorcycle's operator, a 36-year-old man from Bear, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Mendoza has since been charged with vehicular homicide and other traffic-related offenses. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
