RANGELEY PLANTATION – A Rumford woman died on Sunday evening after her vehicle crashed on South Shore Drive, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr.
Morgan Duguay, 30, was driving a 2024 Buick westbound at approximately 8:36 p.m. when she lost control, entered a ditch, struck several trees, and rolled over. She was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
Her passenger, 25-year-old Jordan Duguay, also from Rumford, was transported to a hospital by a MaineHealth EMS ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
Responding to the incident were Deputy Andrew Morgan, the Oxford County Sheriff's Office, and Franklin County Deputies Jeff Brann and Isaac Wacome. Rangeley Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene; firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the trapped driver.
“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Lt. Camdan Carmichael of Rangeley Fire Rescue stated in a social media post.
Morgan Duguay had previously worked as an educational technician at T.W. Kelly Dirigo Middle School and was most recently employed at Oxford Federal Credit Union. Colleagues and friends described her as an advocate for students, noting her infectious personality and positive impact on the community.
