Virginia Woman Dies in New Kent After Running Off Road.

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that occurred Wednesday at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Route 60.

The incident took place less than a half-mile west of Toe Ink Terrace, where an eastbound SUV ran off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, re-entered the roadway, ran off the right side, and hit a guardrail. The vehicle traveled about 50 feet along the guardrail before coming to a stop.

The driver, identified as 59-year-old Deitra Lynn Saunders of Providence Forge, was at the scene. Authorities reported that she was not wearing a seatbelt and may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the crash. Speed and alcohol were not considered factors.

Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
