Crash triggers manhunt; Tyler Robinson charged with murder.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (TNND) — Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with assassinating Charlie Kirk following a car crash on Sept. 10, 2022, in St. George.

Footage from the St. George Police Department shows Robinson explaining the crash, where he t-boned another vehicle, while his mother provided insurance details. At the time of the incident, Robinson was reportedly 19 years old and appeared cooperative with officers.

Authorities revealed that Robinson had connections to radical online communities. Utah Governor Spencer Cox noted that friends confirmed Robinson's engagement with “deep, dark” internet cultures. A family member indicated that Robinson had implied he was involved in the incident.

Robinson's father recognized him in photos released by the FBI, who were searching for the suspect. His roommate provided messages from the chatting app Discord, mentioning a rifle and other weaponry details.

Robinson was apprehended after a 33-hour manhunt and faces charges including aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm. Utah prosecutors have announced plans to seek the death penalty in this case.
