LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A fatal motorcycle collision occurred just before 10 p.m. on the Gene Snyder Freeway, between Highway 42 and I-71.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), a male motorcyclist collided with a semi truck near the 36-mile marker. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene; he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The motorcycle became lodged under the semi, resulting in a fire that authorities reported was extinguished. All involved parties remained at the scene.
As a result of the incident, the southbound lanes of the Gene Snyder Freeway between Highway 42 and I-71 will be closed for an estimated three hours.
