COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKRC) — A woman is being held on a $3 million bond following a fatal wrong-way crash on Route 315, which occurred May 4.

According to authorities, Xiaoke Fan allegedly drove the wrong way for approximately four miles in a stolen vehicle before colliding with another , resulting in the death of 17-year-old passenger Kaitlyn Spahr and serious injuries to the driver. The victims were reportedly returning home from a softball game at the time of the incident.

During Fan's court appearance on Monday, Spahr's twin sister, Rachel, urged the judge to deny bond, expressing concern about public safety. “My twin sister, my best friend, is dead because of Miss Fan's actions,” Rachel Spahr stated.

Prosecutors revealed that Fan stole the vehicle shortly before the crash, after reportedly threatening a woman who refused to give her a ride to a hospital. Witnesses noted that Fan brandished a rock during the incident.

Fan appeared virtually for her arraignment and remains in a wheelchair due to injuries sustained in the crash. Her attorney confirmed she is a Chinese national on a student visa who recently graduated from a college in the Dayton area.

While previously filed as not guilty by reason of insanity, a procedural issue required that Fan enter a standard not guilty plea during the hearing. The insanity plea will be refiled once a judge is assigned to the case.

Should Fan post bond, she will be required to wear a GPS monitoring device.
