Motorcycle Rider Dies in Crash on State Hwy 81 in Green County.

MONROE, Wis. (WKOW) — A 68-year-old man died in a crash on State Highway 81 this afternoon.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:01 p.m. in the W7800 block of State Highway 81, about 7.5 miles northwest of Monroe, according to the Green County Sheriff's Office. Deputies and emergency response teams from Browntown Fire Department, Monroe Rural Fire Department, and Green County EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Authorities reported that a westbound , driven by a 28-year-old Monroe woman, failed to yield while turning left into a driveway, colliding with an eastbound motorcycle. The motorcycle operator was at the scene. Chief Deputy John M. Schuetz stated the rider was wearing eye protection but not a helmet at the time of the crash.

The sustained significant damage to its passenger side. State Highway 81 was closed for over four hours as the investigation proceeded, assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit.

Names of those involved have not been released. This incident marks the fourth traffic fatality in Green County in 2026.
