Pike County Community Mourns Mother, Two Children Killed on SR 32

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Three people died and a child was critically injured Monday in a collision at Coal Dock Road and State Route 32.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a driven by Hannah Howard failed to stop at a stop sign while crossing SR 32 and entered the path of an oncoming hauling an empty logging trailer.

Authorities said Howard, her 9-year-old son, and 5-year-old daughter were at the scene.

Troopers said her youngest child was to Nationwide Children's Hospital and remains in critical condition.

The driver attempted to stop and was not injured, investigators said.

Ohio State Highway Patrol's Portsmouth Post is leading the investigation. Details on lane closures and vehicle tows were not immediately available.
