Rashee Rice Released from Jail Following Probation Violation Related to Crash

Dallas, TX – NFL player Rashee Rice was released from the Dallas County Jail on Tuesday morning after serving 30 days for a probation violation stemming from a high-speed, multi- crash in March 2024.

According to court records, Rice tested positive for THC, leading to the 30-day sentence. He was permitted to visit Parkland Hospital in Dallas for rehabilitation following knee surgery prior to his incarceration.

Rice, 26, missed the first six games of the previous NFL season due to violating the league's personal conduct policy. Authorities report he caused the crash while driving erratically at speeds nearing 120 mph, leaving the scene before police arrived. He later surrendered to an arrest warrant and took responsibility for the incident, ultimately pleading guilty to two third-degree felony charges.

As part of his sentence, Rice received five years of probation and was mandated to pay the victims' medical expenses.

Last season, Rice registered 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns, as the Kansas City Chiefs finished with a 6-11 record and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid expressed confidence in Rice's timely arrival for training camp at the end of July, stating, “We're moving forward as normal as we go here.” The Chiefs are set to begin training camp on July 29 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
