Woman Killed in Polk County Vehicle Collision on Highway 400 near Galloway Road
Polk County, Florida (July 24, 2023) – A Winter Haven woman was killed in a crash early Sunday morning near an intersection in Polk County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident was reported at around 4:10 a.m. July 23 near Highway 400 and Galloway Road.
Per the report, Quarpaesha Raquel Prather, 31, was driving her car east on SR-400, approaching Galloway Road in the outside lane.
At the same time, Winter Haven woman was travelling on the same road ahead of Prather's car when for unknown reasons, rather slammed into the back of the other vehicle.
The other driver's car rotated and overturned onto the south shoulder of the highway.
The woman was thrown out of the car and was pronounced dead at the site.
Her passenger sustained minor injuries.
Prather was not injured and was arrested for DUI manslaughter and was booked into the Polk County Jail.
More details regarding the incident were not provided.
An investigation is underway.
