Multiple-Vehicle Crash Injures Six on H-1 Freeway in Pearl City
Pearl City, HI – A crash involving multiple vehicles occurred at 5:20 p.m. today on the eastbound lanes of the H-1 freeway, near the Waimalu off-ramp, injuring several individuals, including children.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) dispatched multiple units to the scene. EMS personnel provided advanced life support to six patients, transporting them to local hospitals for further treatment. Among those injured were a 1-year-old girl in stable condition, a 7-year-old girl in serious condition, and a 10-year-old girl in stable condition. Also hospitalized were a 34-year-old woman in serious condition, a 33-year-old man in stable condition, and a 45-year-old woman classified as serious.
Two teenage boys were evaluated at the scene but did not require hospital transport, authorities said.
Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle overturned and approximately 10 other vehicles involved in the incident. Police initially closed all eastbound lanes of the H-1 freeway between the Waipahu on-ramp and the Waimalu off-ramp for the investigation.
All vehicles have since been towed from the scene, and the lanes were reopened at 7:05 p.m., according to police.
