GUYMON, OK – A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 54 resulted in two fatalities Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. when a truck collided with an SUV near the intersection with State Highway 3. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, both occupants of the SUV—a 49-year-old man and his 8-year-old granddaughter—were pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders from the Texas County EMS arrived shortly after the accident, providing medical aid before an investigation into the crash commenced. Authorities reported that a third vehicle was also involved but did not sustain significant damage.
All westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 54 were closed for several hours during the investigation and cleanup efforts, which were managed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
The identities of those involved have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
