BURKE, S.D. — One person died in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday evening on U.S. Highway 18.
A 71-year-old man from Stuart, Neb., whose name has not been released, was driving a 1939 Chevrolet JB Coupe when he lost control of the vehicle. Authorities said the car went off the roadway, entered the ditch, struck an approach, and rolled over.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol reported that the driver died at the scene, located approximately 10 miles east of Burke. The crash occurred around 7:24 p.m. Tuesday. It remains unclear if the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
