MECAN, Wis. (WKOW) — A UTV driver died after crashing into trees early Monday morning in the Town of Mecan, according to the Marquette County Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred at 4:04 a.m. at the intersection of Fern Drive and 22nd Lane. Authorities reported the driver was traveling north on 22nd Lane when the UTV left the roadway prior to reaching the intersection.
The vehicle continued through the intersection and into a wooded area, striking multiple trees before coming to a stop. First responders found the driver, who was the sole occupant. The Waushara County Medical Examiner pronounced the individual dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office is withholding the driver's identity until family members have been notified.
Emergency response included the Princeton Fire Department, Montello Fire Department, Marquette County EMS, Waushara County Medical Examiner's Office, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, the DNR, and the Waushara County Medical Examiner.
