A multi-car crash during Stage 2 of the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 7 involved nine vehicles and resulted in injuries.
According to officials, the incident occurred on a lap 83 restart when Carson Hocevar attempted to move left and collided with John Hunter Nemechek's No. 42 Toyota, triggering a chain reaction crash. Tyler Reddick's car hit the inside wall before being struck by Austin Dillon's No. 3 Chevrolet.
Authorities reported that Reddick, who leads the NASCAR Cup Series points standings, will finish outside the top 30 for the first time this season. He entered the race with a 97-point lead over second-place Denny Hamlin.
Other drivers involved in the crash included Hamlin, Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Bubba Wallace, and Ty Gibbs. Witnesses noted that Gibbs' vehicle struggled to maintain pace after the crash, affecting his chances for a top finish.
The race was halted for caution due to the incident, marking the sixth caution of the day. Emergency response teams provided medical aid to the drivers involved. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with details regarding any confirmed injuries pending.
