MAYSVILLE, NC—Troopers report that a suspect in a stolen vehicle caused a crash with a Maysville police officer during a pursuit on Highway 58 South.
Authorities stated that officers initially responded to reports of careless and reckless driving. During the investigation, they discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen, leading to the chase.
According to Troopers, the stolen vehicle abruptly braked, resulting in a collision with a police car. Officers reported no injuries, but the driver of the stolen vehicle sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
A passenger in the stolen vehicle was transported to Carteret Health Care for treatment. Charges against the driver are pending as the investigation continues.
