KEARNS, Utah (KUTV) — A man died in an e-scooter accident on Tuesday afternoon.
David Hilifiker, 52, was riding a seated scooter eastbound on the sidewalk near 4082 West 5415 South at approximately 12:15 p.m. when a car traveling west made a sudden turn into a parking structure. Hilifiker swerved to avoid the car but was subsequently struck by another westbound vehicle.
He was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities remind pedestrians and e-scooter riders to be vigilant, emphasizing that sidewalk users have the right of way. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
