PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A driver, fatigued from nearly 18 hours awake, caused a crash that killed three Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies on November 21, 2024.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 32-year-old Corrinne Adrianna Blue was up to 85 mph and driving aggressively before veering off State Road 80 near Loxahatchee. Blue's vehicle struck Corporal Luis Paez, Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller, and Deputy Ignacio “Dan” Diaz as they assisted with a disabled on the shoulder.

Authorities reported that Blue was arrested and charged with three counts of vehicular homicide. Bond was set at $750,000, with conditions including house arrest and no driving. Witnesses and video evidence revealed a pattern of dangerous driving leading to the crash.

The incident unfolded shortly after 9:14 a.m. as the deputies provided roadside assistance. Waller and Paez were at St. Mary's Medical Center later that day, while Diaz succumbed to critical injuries on November 25.

Investigators found no mechanical issues with Blue's vehicle, ruling out weather and road conditions as factors. Data indicated she maintained excessive speed prior to the crash, contradicting her claims of only slightly exceeding the limit.

The crash investigation involved comprehensive video analysis and witness accounts, emphasizing behavior. Blue's previous criminal speeding conviction in Pennsylvania was also noted. The case is set to proceed to court for further legal action.
