FLORENCE, S.C. — A woman died following a vehicle collision involving a Florence County sheriff's deputy on Aug. 27 at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Willow Creek Road and Pamplico Highway.
According to Coroner Keith von Lutcken, 74-year-old Lula A. Webber was transported to a hospital after the crash but was later pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for this week at the Medical University of South Carolina, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
In a separate incident on the same day, authorities reported a fatal standoff involving sheriff's deputies in Effingham. A deputy shot and killed a suspect after negotiations failed. The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Justin Lowery.
The investigation into both incidents remains ongoing.
