Fatal Crash on Fickling Hill Road Under Investigation
Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle collision on Fickling Hill Road, Johns Island, that resulted in one fatality on August 22 at approximately 7 p.m.
Deputies from the CHARLESTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE (CCSO) responded to the scene in the 3200 block after receiving reports of the accident. Initially, the driver indicated there was a passenger in the vehicle; however, after questioning, the driver confirmed they were the sole occupant and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
On August 25, CCSO's Traffic Unit was alerted by a resident who discovered a body on their property. Investigators determined it was a passenger who had been ejected during the collision.
The CCSO Traffic Unit, Forensic Services Unit, and the CHARLESTON COUNTY CORONER'S OFFICE are currently involved in the investigation. The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Coroner's Office at the appropriate time.
