LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A man was killed in a crash involving a pickup truck and a Mustang early Saturday near Washington Avenue and Bruce Street.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the collision occurred just after 5:30 a.m. Police reports indicate the 49-year-old man was driving a 1993 truck westbound when he entered the intersection on a “fresh yellow” light while attempting a left turn onto Bruce Street.

A 21-year-old woman driving a 2015 Mustang was approaching the same intersection eastbound at excessive speed, reportedly ignoring the traffic signal as it turned red. The Mustang struck the right side of the , resulting in significant damage and causing the driver of the Nissan to be from the vehicle.

Emergency medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the Nissan driver, but he was at the scene. The Mustang driver was transported to UMC Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries, while a passenger in her vehicle also sustained critical injuries.

Authorities reported that the Mustang driver exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested on charges of DUI and in absentia. The fatality marks the 48th traffic-related death in LVMPD jurisdiction for 2026.

The incident is currently under investigation by LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section.
