LOWELL, Mass. — A wrong-way collision on Route 3 in Chelmsford during the Wednesday evening commute left a 20-year-old with minor injuries, authorities reported.

Isaiah Portocarrero was struck head-on by another vehicle around 4:30 p.m. Witnesses reported that the other crossed over the median. Portocarrero's father, Bobby Thorne, an operations manager for Pridestar Trinity EMS, received a call from his son shortly after the accident, stating, “He said that he's bleeding and all the airbags went off.”

Dashcam footage captured the moment of impact. Thorne attributed his son's safety to the crash-rated he was driving, noting the vehicle's protective features.

One additional person was transported to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, and it remains unclear whether any charges will be filed.
