MALDEN, Mass. —
Two people were injured Tuesday in a multi-vehicle crash that sent an SUV into a coffee shop in Malden, Massachusetts.
The incident occurred around noon on Charles Street. According to Malden Police, westbound traffic was stopped at a red light when one vehicle rear-ended another. The striking vehicle then shifted into reverse, colliding with the New England Coffee Shop.
Emergency crews utilized the Jaws of Life to extricate one person trapped in a vehicle. Both individuals involved were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sky5 footage revealed a heavily damaged black sedan in the roadway and a damaged gray SUV in the coffee shop parking lot. A witness reported that nearly a dozen people were inside the shop during the incident, but no customers or employees were injured.
The crash is currently under investigation by authorities.
