Amish Buggy Driver Killed in Lafayette County Crash.

WILLOW SPRINGS, Wis. (WKOW) — A 56-year-old Mineral Point man died Tuesday afternoon after his horse-drawn buggy was rear-ended by a pickup truck on State Highway 23.

The collision occurred around 4:18 p.m. in the 17000 block of STH 23, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office. Deputies, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Darlington to the scene.

Joseph Z. Glick was driving an open-style Amish buggy northbound when a 2020 Colorado, also traveling north, struck the buggy from behind. The truck was operated by 36-year-old Brett D. Durni of Dodgeville. Glick was at the scene by the Lafayette County Coroner's Office; Durni did not sustain any injuries.

The horse pulling the buggy suffered severe injuries and was euthanized on site, officials confirmed.

State Highway 23 was temporarily closed while crews conducted their investigation. Multiple agencies, including Lafayette County EMS, the Darlington Fire Department, the county highway department, and Center Hill Veterinary Service, assisted at the scene.

Authorities reported that the crash remains under investigation and marks the second traffic fatality in Lafayette County this year.
