Deadly crash on Las Vegas Strip results in guilty plea.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Lakeisha Holloway, 34, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and battery with a deadly weapon related to a crash on the Las Vegas Strip in December 2015.

According to court records, Holloway drove her vehicle into a crowd near Planet Hollywood, killing 1 pedestrian and injuring 37 others. The victim, Jessica Valenzuela, was an Arizona mother who died in the incident.

At the time of the crash, Holloway had her 3-year-old child in the . Authorities reported that she had marijuana in her system. Holloway had previously pleaded not guilty to murder and over 70 felony charges associated with the case.

The incident led to the installation of steel bollards along the Strip to enhance pedestrian safety. Clark County implemented these measures to prevent vehicles from accessing pedestrian pathways.

Holloway is scheduled to be sentenced on September 25. The trial proceedings faced numerous delays related to her mental competence, but she expressed remorse in a 2019 jail interview, stating she did not intend to harm anyone.
