MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho — Four U.S. Navy crew members ejected during a mid-air collision at the Gunfighter Skies Air Show on Sunday, according to the 336th Fighter Wing.
At approximately 12:10 p.m., two U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler jets from Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 129, based in Whidbey Island, Washington, collided mid-air. The EA-18G is a variant of the F/A-18 family, equipped for electronic warfare.
Witnesses reported seeing multiple crew members eject from the aircraft, with videos showing smoke rising from the crash site. Medical personnel are currently evaluating all crew members involved, the 336th Fighter Wing confirmed.
Following the incident, nearby highways were closed, and a fire from the crash burned approximately 25 acres. Elmore County Sheriff's Office Deputy Moore reported that the fire has since been extinguished.
