FORT PIERCE, Fla. — A memorial gathering took place at Jetty Park on Saturday evening to honor Lauren Rogers, 26, and her 3-year-old son Kylo, who died as a result of a wrong-way crash on Florida's Turnpike.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred near mile marker 173.5. Lauren Rogers was at the scene, while Kylo succumbed to his injuries days later. Rogers' 5-year-old son, Korbin, survived the incident.

As darkness fell, attendees lit candles in remembrance of Rogers and Kylo. One participant expressed deep sorrow, stating, “I'm like so overwhelmed right now because these people love her so much. We all love her.”

Friends described Rogers as a supportive presence, emphasizing her vibrant personality. “Lauren had the biggest heart. She was so full of life,” said one loved one.

The family is currently collaborating with investigators, including a homicide investigator, to access the vehicle's black box for further clarity on the accident. “This was a freak accident,” a family member asserted.

A GoFundMe has been established to assist with funeral expenses for Lauren and Kylo, as well as to provide support for Korbin during this challenging time.
