WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A crash has closed eastbound 5400 South at Bangerter Highway in Taylorsville, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
Authorities said a vehicle traveling westbound on 5400 South ran a red light and struck another vehicle on its rear passenger side. The impacted vehicle was occupied by a husband and wife, both transported to the hospital with neck and back pain. The driver of the striking vehicle was not injured and did not appear to be under the influence.
The westbound ramp at this location is also closed. Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes. The roadway is projected to reopen around 4:11 p.m.
