Three killed, two injured in tragic multi-vehicle crash in Funk.

FUNK, Neb. — A crash on Friday night resulted in three fatalities and two injuries at the intersection of Highway 6/34 and Road T.

Around 9:38 p.m., the Phelps County 911 Center reported a collision, prompting responses from multiple fire, law enforcement, and EMT agencies. Upon arrival, responders found a Chevy Silverado and a F-250 engulfed in flames, both suffering extensive damage. A Chevy Suburban, also heavily damaged, was on the scene.

The sole occupant of the Ford F-250, an adult male, was rescued and transported to Phelps County Memorial Hospital before being moved to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He is currently in serious but stable condition.

Firefighters discovered three adult males deceased in the Chevy Silverado, with their identities pending autopsy results. Two additional victims were located in the Chevy Suburban. An adult female was to Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition; she is now in serious but stable condition at a Kansas City hospital. A minor child in the Suburban was treated at Kearney County Health Systems in Minden and released.

The Nebraska State Patrol, in collaboration with the Phelps County Sheriff's Department, is investigating the cause of the accident. Authorities expressed condolences to the victims' families and appreciation for first responders' efforts.
