Three Stillman College Affiliates Killed in Atlanta Car Accident

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Three individuals with connections to Stillman College were tragically killed in a car accident on May 23 in Atlanta, Georgia. The victims have been identified as current student Sieas Elliott and alumni Destiny Gardner and Varick Lawrence.

According to a post on Stillman College's Facebook page, all three died in the same traffic collision. The statement expressed profound sorrow over their untimely deaths and extended condolences to their families and friends.

Elliott, from Stockbridge, Georgia, recently completed his baseball career at Stillman and was set to return to the college in 2025-2026 as a student assistant coach. He was involved with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Gardner, a 2022 criminal justice graduate from Montgomery, served as Miss Stillman during the 2021-2022 term and worked as a juvenile officer. She shared a young son with Lawrence.

Lawrence, from Lithonia, Georgia, played baseball from 2021 to 2023 at Stillman and worked as a baseball coach in the Atlanta area. He was also affiliated with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Stillman College President Yolanda Page and Athletic Director Terrance Whittle both expressed their condolences, highlighting the profound impact the three had on the college community.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and further details regarding the circumstances of the crash have not yet been released.
