Fatal Crash Near Lakota, North Dakota, Results in One Death.

LAKOTA — A two-vehicle crash in northeast North Dakota resulted in one fatality on Friday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on May 8, at the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 1 in Lakota, located 63 miles west of Grand Forks.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2016 Tahoe traveling westbound on Highway 2 and a 2000 LeSabre, which was stopped at the intersection heading north. The LeSabre proceeded to cross Highway 2, failing to yield to the Tahoe, which then struck the passenger side of the LeSabre in a collision.

The 41-year-old driver of the Tahoe from Grand Forks and her two young passengers were uninjured. The driver of the LeSabre, a 93-year-old man from Lakota, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. All occupants were reportedly wearing seat belts.

The identities of the drivers are pending release by the NDHP. The investigation into the crash is active and ongoing.
