Vehicle Crash in Lihu'e, Kauai, Claims Life of 24-Year-Old Driver
LIHU'E, Kauai – A single-vehicle crash on Saturday claimed the life of a 24-year-old driver and critically injured a passenger.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. on Kuhio Highway near Mile Marker 5. According to the Kauai Police Department, the vehicle lost control and veered off the roadway.
Emergency response units, including Kauai Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, were dispatched to the scene. The driver was pronounced dead at the site, while the passenger was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the highway remained open, but minor lane closures were in place during the investigation, which is ongoing.
