Columbia crash results in DWI charge with driver's BAC recorded at 0.245%.

Columbia, MO – A Mexican citizen has been charged with following a crash on Monday.

According to Boone County prosecutors, Jose Hernandez Rivera, 32, was charged with DWI – Physical Injury, as well as misdemeanor counts for lacking insurance and a driver's license.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash on East Business Loop 70 near Paris Road. Rivera was driving a Sorento that collided with a Altima.

Three occupants of the reported back and neck pain as a result of the incident. Authorities detected the odor of alcohol on Rivera, who could not provide a driver's license or proof of insurance.

Rivera's blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.245%. He was transported to Boone County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
