COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 41-year-old Reynoldsburg woman was charged after a 5:30 p.m. April 30, 2025, I-71 South crash near I-670, authorities said.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation traffic camera footage and a Columbus Police crash report, the driver stopped a red Dodge Caravan in the center lane after missing an exit.
Three vehicles behind the minivan collided in a chain reaction. Authorities said the minivan exited toward I-670 and left the scene; the three other vehicles were disabled.
Columbus Division of Police responded. Information on medical aid, injuries, tows and lane closures was not listed in the initial report.
Authorities said officers initially cited the third driver for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, then dismissed the citation after reviewing the footage.
Investigators used the viral video and the city's Flock camera system to identify the minivan and its registered owner, police said.
According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, prosecutors charged the woman on May 19, 2025, with reckless driving, a third-degree misdemeanor; she pleaded guilty in July.
Court records show she received 1 year of probation, a 6-month driver's license suspension and a $50 fine. The case is closed.
