A 24-year-old woman was in critical condition after a fiery single-vehicle crash early this morning on Kunia Road, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The collision happened about 1:25 a.m. on Kunia Road south of Kunia Drive in the Kunia area, police said.
Investigators with HPD's Traffic Division Vehicular Homicide Section said the woman was driving south when her vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and left the roadway.
Police said the vehicle traveled into roadside brush, striking multiple boulders and a cattle gate before continuing into an open field, where it overturned several times.
Officers pulled the driver from the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames, according to police.
The woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition and was later listed in critical condition.
