Three people were injured in a car crash in Cole County on Friday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the accident occurred at 4:50 p.m. on U.S. 54 at Quarry Road.
According to authorities, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was making a left turn when a 2005 Ford Five Hundred rear-ended it.
The force of the collision caused the Chevrolet to veer off the roadway and onto eastbound U.S. 54.
A 2012 Honda Pilot subsequently struck the Chevrolet, leading to its overturning.
The Chevrolet driver, a 75-year-old woman from Villa Ridge, Mo., suffered serious injuries and was transported by EMS to a local hospital.
The Ford driver, a 23-year-old man from Stover, sustained moderate injuries, while the Honda driver, a 47-year-old man from Jefferson City, suffered minor injuries.
MSHP noted that the Stover man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, whereas the Jefferson City man was secured. It remains unclear if the Villa Ridge woman was wearing her seatbelt.
The crash prompted temporary lane closures as emergency responders cleared the scene.
MSHP is currently investigating the incident, and further details will be released as they become available.
