CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Ford has issued a recall for nearly 1.4 million F-150 trucks due to a potential crash risk.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall affects 1,392,935 Ford F-150 trucks from model years 2015, 2016, and 2017. The issue involves a malfunction that can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into second gear, stemming from a loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module.
Affected owners are advised to visit authorized dealers for a complimentary software update to the powertrain control module. Interim notification letters will be mailed to owners starting April 27, 2026, with additional correspondence expected once a final remedy is available, anticipated in July 2026.
