MARSHFIELD, Mass. —
A three-car crash on Careswell Street killed 69-year-old Irene F. McPherson of Marshfield on Monday around 5:30 p.m.
According to Police Chief Philip Tavares, McPherson was driving a Hyundai eastbound when she crossed into the westbound lane near Colby Hewitt Lane. Her vehicle struck an oncoming Camaro at an angle before colliding head-on with a Kia.
The drivers of the Camaro and Kia, a woman from Pembroke and a Marshfield resident, sustained minor injuries and were treated at South Shore Hospital before being released.
Three fire engines and two ambulances were initially dispatched to the scene. However, Acting Fire Chief William Hocking noted that firefighters requested a third ambulance upon arrival.
Firefighters utilized hydraulic rescue tools to extricate one of the women from her vehicle. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
