TUCSON, Ariz. (TNND) — At about 1 p.m. Friday in Tucson, a 3-year-old girl was killed and her pregnant mother seriously injured at Valencia and Country Club.
According to the Tucson Police Department, a Hyundai Genesis driven by 22-year-old Christian Isaiah Randall was speeding eastbound on Valencia Road alongside a Dodge Charger driven by a 16-year-old.
Investigators said the Genesis struck a Toyota Camry that was turning south onto Country Club Road from westbound Valencia Road, splitting the Camry. Authorities said the child in the Camry died at the scene; the mother sustained serious injuries.
Police said the Charger left the scene. Detectives later located the vehicle at a residence and identified the 16-year-old driver.
Randall suffered minor injuries, authorities said. He was arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on a $500,000 bond.
The 16-year-old was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Randall and the 16-year-old each face charges of second-degree murder, two counts of endangerment, and two counts of aggravated assault.
Authorities said speed and possible street racing are being investigated as factors. The investigation remains active.
