Man Dies in Pickup Truck Crash in Marengo County.

MARENGO COUNTY, Ala. – A crash on U.S. Highway 43 resulted in the death of a 61-year-old man early Tuesday morning.

According to Alabama State Troopers, James Phillips of Atmore was driving a pickup truck when it left the roadway, struck a concrete culvert, overturned, and subsequently caught fire. The Alabama Department of Forensic Science confirmed Phillips' identity.

The incident occurred approximately one mile south of Dixon Mills around 5:15 AM. Emergency responders from local agencies arrived at the scene to provide medical aid and manage the fire. The highway was temporarily closed for investigation and cleanup.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries have been reported. Further details will be released as the investigation unfolds.
